General Motors Co. is making a renewed effort in China to spur sales of its Cadillac luxury brand, which have been slow compared with its other offerings.
GM has launched a new advertising campaign featuring actor Brad Pitt and plans to more than double its Chinese dealers to 200 by the end of the year. GM also is planning to introduce a new Cadillac in China every year through 2016, said Bob Socia, who runs GM’s China operations.
“With a refreshed SRX and a locally produced XTS and the right powertrain, we really expect it to start to take hold,” Mr. Socia said in an interview on Friday at GM’s China headquarters on the outskirts of Shanghai. The SRX is a small sport-utility vehicle and the XTS is a full-size sedan.
