Growth in the giant China manufacturing sector in February withdrew from the highest point in nearly two years despite a fourth consecutive month of expansion, a private survey showed Monday, as foreign demand remained unsteady.
The HSBC flash purchasing managers’ index for February slipped to 50.4, the lowest reading in four months and down from the January reading of 52.3, which had been the best showing since January 2011. Index readings higher than 50 indicate expansion, while those lower than 50 indicate contraction.
