Japan Business Mission to China Shows Gradual Thaw in Ties

A group comprising 178 executives from top Japanese companies is scheduled to visit China next week, the largest business mission to travel between the two countries since a flare-up in a territorial dispute chilled bilateral ties more than a year ago.


The seven-day visit, during which the executives hope to gain audiences with top Chinese officials including President Xi Jinping, comes amid emerging signs that some aspects of the bilateral ties—particularly in the areas of business and human exchange—may be starting to normalize, even as the political impasse continues.
