Chinese Yuan on a Record-Setting Run

SHANGHAI—China’s yuan rose to a record high for a fourth consecutive day on Thursday, amid broad weakness in the U.S. dollar before and after an 11th-hour debt deal was struck in Washington.


The yuan has gained 0.4% against the dollar since last Friday, putting it on pace for its biggest weekly gain since May. It touched a record 6.0950 per dollar earlier Thursday in the onshore market before closing at 6.0982, compared with 6.0995 on Wednesday.
