China Mobile launched six major investments between 2005 and 2011 and three resulted in losses, a recent report by the state auditor found.
The National Audit Office found that three major investments by the country’s largest telecoms operator reported a combined loss of 3.2 billion yuan between 2009 and 2011. The other three profited a total of 6.2 billion yuan.
The auditor said China Mobile put the three profitable projects under its listed subsidiary, China Mobile Ltd., while the losing projects were under the parent company.
